An Aldi Supermarket, the German-based grocer that is expanding in the US, will open in the long-vacant site previously occupied by Pathmark in the Rockland Center at 43 E. Route 59, according to Royal Properties, the plaza’s real estate broker. The company, which is taking a portion of the former supermarket site, chose the location for its visibility, traffic counts of more than 32,000 cars per day and the strong retail co-tenancy at the shopping center. There is an additional 10,000-square feet of additional buildable space. Tenants in the center include TJ Maxx, Sierra Trading Post, Kirkland’s Home Décor, HomeGoods, AC Moore and Party City. Aldi has a current location on Liberty Drive (Route 202) in Stony Point. The 22,000 square foot location will be renovated.
