On Oct. 2, 1780, Major John André met his death for spying on the Continental Army at the Dutch Reform Church in Tappan. The military tribunal re-enacted Saturday at the Stony Point Battlefield brought more than 100 visitors back in time, thanks to Sean Grady and Gary Petagine from Drama From the Past, LLC.  Of course André was the fall guy for Benedict Arnold but the story lives on, and has heightened importance because this historic event occurred here in Rockland County. Kudos to all who keep living history alive.
