Veolia Awarded With WaterSense Excellence Award By EPA

VeoliaThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Veolia with a 2024 WaterSense Excellence Award for promoting WaterSense and water efficiency in 2023 in its New York utility operations. Veolia is one of 50 utilities, manufacturers, builders, and other organizations honored with WaterSense Partner of the Year Awards for helping consumers and businesses save billions of gallons of water annually.

WaterSense, a voluntary partnership program sponsored by EPA, is both a label for water-efficient products and a resource for helping consumers learn ways to save water. WaterSense labeled products, homes, and programs helped consumers and businesses save 1.2 trillion gallons of water in 2023, along with the energy used to heat that water and money on utility bills.

“I am excited that EPA is recognizing these WaterSense award winners who are helping protect our water resources while improving energy efficiency, saving customers’ money, and advancing efforts to manage climate change impacts like water scarcity and drought,” said EPA Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Water Bruno Pigott. “Since 2006, EPA’s innovative WaterSense Program has saved 8.7 trillion gallons of water, 997 billion kilowatt-hours of energy, and $207 billion in water and energy bills!”

WaterSense Award winners demonstrate their commitment to conserving the earth’s most precious resource by producing, building and promoting labeled products and homes that are independently certified as water efficient, as well as offering certification programs for water-smart irrigation professionals.

WaterSense honored Veolia as a 2024 Excellence in Promoting Labeled Products Award winner for its program that encourages its customers in New York to replace outdated fixtures including showerheads, toilets, and smart irrigation controllers with new high-performance models that save water and energy.

“We are honored to be recognized with our second WaterSense Excellence award. Veolia is committed to preserving and protecting our most precious resources, and most importantly, drinking water in North America,” said Chris Graziano, Regional President of Veolia’s New York operations. “The WaterSense label is the backbone of our program and is used extensively in our promotional materials to educate our customers about the benefits of replacing outdated water fixtures with WaterSense labeled models. The power and prestige of the WaterSense label continues to be instrumental in the success of our program.”

Customers have redeemed more than 14,000 rebates since the program’s launch in 2017. Veolia was previously recognized with a WaterSense Excellence Award in 2020.
