Spotlight on Honoree: Christine Cordey & Christine Cordey Salon
For more than three decades, Christine Cordey has exemplified the art of transforming beauty into empowerment. As the owner of the Christine Cordey Salon, she has not only cultivated a business known for excellence in hairstyling, but also built a platform that uplifts her clients, her staff, and her broader Rockland County community. On October 24, 2025, the Center for Safety & Change will proudly honor Christine at the 18th Annual Simona & Jerome A. Chazen Business Luncheon for her leadership, compassion, and commitment to ending gender-based violence.
A Legacy in Hair and Entrepreneurship
Christine is a third-generation hairstylist whose love for creativity, artistry, and personal care was nurtured at an early age. With more than 33 years of experience in the hairstyling industry, she has seen firsthand how salons can be more than just spaces for beauty—they can serve as safe havens for conversation, confidence, and community.
When Christine founded the Christine Cordey Salon, she envisioned a place where every guest would be met not only with technical skill, but also with personal care and attention. Over the years, her salon has become known for top-tier service delivered with heart. She and her team strive to ensure that each person who sits in the chair leaves feeling confident, valued, and uplifted.
For Christine, success has never been measured solely in awards or accolades. Instead, she defines it by the strength of her relationships and the positive ripple effect her business creates in the lives of others. This philosophy has made her salon both a trusted local institution and a reflection of her deep belief in community care.
Building Community Through Kindness
Beyond the salon doors, Christine has used her entrepreneurial success as a springboard for philanthropy and community engagement. She actively supports organizations such as The Nyack Center and the Center for Safety & Change, contributing time, resources, and leadership to causes that align with her values.
One of her signature initiatives is “12 Acts of Kindness for the Holidays,” a campaign she leads each year that mobilizes generosity and goodwill during the season of giving. These efforts reinforce her conviction that business owners have a responsibility not only to their clientele but also to the communities in which they thrive.
Christine’s approach to leadership underscores a simple yet powerful truth: beauty, when combined with compassion, has the power to transform lives.
Advocacy and a Commitment to Ending Gender-Based Violence
Center for Safety & Change has long emphasized the importance of engaging local businesses as allies in the movement to end domestic violence and gender-based violence. Christine embodies this call to action. By lending her voice, influence, and business platform, she ensures that awareness of these issues extends beyond advocacy circles and into the everyday lives of clients, neighbors, and colleagues.
Through her involvement with the Center, Christine has helped normalize difficult but necessary conversations about safety, equity, and justice. Her commitment to these values aligns with the mission of the Simona & Jerome A. Chazen Business Luncheon, which was created to provide businesses with tools to advocate, educate, and mobilize against domestic violence.
Center for Safety & Change provides critical services and support to women and all victims and survivors of gender-based violence and other crimes while working towards justice by creating social change.
