Letter To The Editor: Independent Bookstores Are Making Way In Rockland County
Thanks to Tina Traster for her article on the growing trend in independent bookstores in Rockland County, and the opening of the Sparkle Bookstore in Sparkill. Another establishment can be added to the list: my own new bookstore, Homebody Books, which opened in Nyack December 2024 on Park Street, just south of the Elmwood Theatre in Nyack. Homebody Books is a small, homey venue for vintage, used, and new children’s books, with toys and art and craft supplies. Over on South Broadway is the iconic Pickwick Books, established 80 years ago. Rockland County is thus soon to boast four very different independent bookstores within five miles.
