Every month, as data becomes available, RCBJ updates it “Price Tracker” enabling readers to see the effects on prices for various commodities from January 2024 through May 2025.

In April, egg prices continued their retreat, down to $4.55 per dozen, from a high of $6.223 in March.

Beef prices continued to rise, month after month, standing in April at $6.018 per pound and exceeded a recent high of $5.854 from March. Beef has been increasing month over month since last September.  Electricity prices breached a recent high and came in at $0.182/kwh. National unemployment stayed flat at 4.2% for May.

How the impact of tariffs or threatened tariffs, the war in the Mideast, and civil unrest at home will affect prices in June and beyond will be the subject of future reports with many retailer announcing price increases.
