Nearly 1,000 angry protesters filled the four corners of Route 59 and Middletown Road in Nanuet on Saturday’s dank spring day, toting posters and placards with angry messages over the threat to social security, education, the legal system, healthcare, women’s rights, human rights, tariffs, defunding of the federal government, weakened international relations, and democracy itself. Cars rolling along Route 59 honked vociferously to show support to one of the largest crowds to gather in Rockland in recent memory. When the rain began, umbrellas shot up; hoods covered heads but the protest, organized by HandsOff, and one of hundreds taking place today throughout the country, remained robust.
